CT Governor Rell Keynotes New Britain YMCA Quasquicentennial

Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell keynoted the New Britain-Berlin YMCA's 125th Annual Meeting on March 26th, proclaiming the YMCA as "a safe place. . . .a good place . . . a center of community life".

Connecticut's 87th Governor proudly proclaimed her service as a Trustee of the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut (corporate office in Brookfield, Connecticut), and her membership in the YMCA to the audience gathered to celebrate the Association's Quasquicentennial.

In describing the fiscal challenges of the state, Governor rell portrayed this as "the most difficult economic period of our lifetime". She noted that the state had lost $1.8 billion in revenue in the past year with the diminution of tax income from sales, income, corporate and casino sources.

In her closing remarks, Governor Rell asserted to the audience of YMCA members: "We need you now more than ever. We want to be a partner with you."
