Invoking former Speaker of the US House of Representatives "Tip" O'Neill, who asserted that "All politics is local", YMCA of the USA President Neil Nicoll emphasized the importance of YMCAs building relationships with governmental leaders at all jurisdictional levels. At YMCA National Advocacy Days in Washington, DC, Neil reminded YMCA leaders that the face of the YMCA Movement is seen in the 2686 YMCAs in 10,000 communities across the land.
He emphasized the role of the YMCA in maintaining and improving the quality of life in communities, as well as impacting the health and wealth of the country through such innovative approaches as Activate America.
